Energetics of Networking

The Hidden Layer of Networking: Energetic Hygiene for the Sensitive and Sovereign

Making the decision to nurture this business came with so many layers I didn’t see coming. Personal growth and energetics? I thought I had that in the bag. That’s my wheelhouse.

Let me tell you, if you want to supercharge your evolution, try building a business. These last few months have taught me more than I could’ve imagined (and I’m sure there’s so MUCH more magic in store).

One of the most surprising (and potent) arenas for growth was one I nearly brushed off: networking – especially speed networking.

When I started paying real attention to what was happening in those calls, I realized I was learning something far deeper than just how to pitch or connect.

A mentor encouraged me to step into networking, and offered these reminders:

  • This will teach you how to talk about yourself & Avy Energy.

  • No one knows about your business if you don’t talk about it.

  • You’ll learn what your audience can actually hear.

  • You’ll get really good at saying the same thing in different ways.

All of those are true.

And yes, confidence builds the more you show up. That’s undeniable.
(Though in the beginning? I was shaking. Maybe it was just me, but the Grande Prairie winds had nothing on my nervous system those first few calls. My voice squeaked, my hands were trembling. I was a HOT mess and very, very human.)

If you’re in enough calls, you’ll start to hear and feel some business truths like:

  • “Your network is your net worth.”

  • “Track the ROI on your networking time.”

These matter. But today, I want to share a layer that’s rarely talked about

The energetics of networking.

Because underneath the names, bios, and elevator pitches…
You’re exchanging energy. If you don’t know how to navigate that, especially if you’re energetically sensitive, networking can feel draining, confusing, or just off.

If you’ve ever left a call buzzing with inspiration, or feeling mysteriously depleted this might explain why.

Let’s explore it.

NETWORKING CAN BE OVERWHELMING

Once I stopped seeing networking as just a business task, and started viewing it as an energetic exchange, everything changed.  Let me expand on this.

One of the core reasons Avy Energy is able to support people globally is because energy transcends time and space.
We can connect with, work with, and share energy across continents, time zones, and in between scheduled sessions.
It doesn’t just happen in ceremony, or inside client containers.
It happens all the time.

Unless we as humans learn to take radical responsibility for how we show up and tend our energy and connections, more can be shared or received than we consciously agreed to.

Now, to be clear: I’m not saying people are doing this maliciously, in calls or in daily life. Most of the time, it’s unconscious.

This kind of energetic leakage or sourcing often stems from misunderstanding, disconnection, or old cultural conditioning.
We’ve been taught to “make an impression,” “capture attention,” or “command a room”. Many have not been taught to do so without entanglement.

Sometimes, people drop into unconscious power plays for energy without even realizing it.
(That’s a bigger topic, if that sparked something for you, bring it to Circle. There’s so much more to explore there.)

No matter why it happens, if your energy field isn’t prepared for incoming interactions, especially the rapid-fire kind in networking rings, it can leave you feeling drained, disoriented, or just off without a clear reason why.

And for those who identify as empaths, sensitives, or energetically attuned this can become a major deterrent.
I’ve seen so many gifted souls avoid these spaces altogether, writing them off as “too much.”

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

With intention and care, we can set our field up to meet these moments.
It is absolutely possible to walk away from a networking call feeling stronger, clearer, and more aligned than when you entered.

And if you’re open, curious, and willing to really see what plays out in these spaces…
You might even find yourself breaking ancient patterns you’ve carried for lifetimes, just by noticing them.

ENERGETIC HYGIENE & NETWORKING

What is energetic hygiene and why does it matter, especially in networking?

At its core, energetic hygiene is the practice of knowing what’s yours and what isn’t.

It’s the ability to connect without entanglement or unconscious pulling.
It’s honoring each person’s sovereign experience and not projecting thoughts, feelings, or expectations onto them.
It’s recognizing when you’ve taken on someone else’s energy and accidentally mistaken it as your own.
It’s noticing when a subtle power play is underway… and choosing not to engage.

So what does that have to do with networking?

More than you might think.

You might be asking:

“It’s just seven minutes. What could really happen?”
“You’re just introducing yourself, how could energy even exchange that fast?”

The truth is: something can happen in an instant.
Energy doesn’t need permission slips or long timelines. It moves fast.  Often faster than words.

Sure, you or the person across the screen may only be looking for referral partners or ideal clients.
But intentions aren’t the only things that matter. Unconscious patterns come to the table, too.

Here’s a small sample of what I’ve personally encountered in a short span of networking:

  • If a superiority arc is at play, their energy might subtly work to make you feel small.

  • If someone believes their way is the only way, and all else is “wrong” that energy can loop in your field, causing mental or emotional fuzz.

  • If you spark a brilliant idea in someone, and they instantly run with it without pause or reciprocity.  That can tug at your field in surprising ways.

  • If you meet a chaotic, ungrounded energy, they might (consciously or not) latch onto your calm presence.

If 4 out of 7 speed calls leave an energetic residue, you may finish the session feeling like you just ran a marathon without understanding why.

You might find yourself:

  • Unable to focus

  • Too drained to create

  • Unclear on what actually happened in the call

  • Questioning yourself, your path, or your energy

But here’s the thing:
Energetic hygiene doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming.

Understanding it and intentionally applying it to your networking can transform your experience.
You’ll regain capacity. You’ll hold clarity. And you’ll have so much more energy left for the rest of your day.

Even a few seconds of pre-call intention and post-call reset can make all the difference.

HOW TO PREPARE - BEFORE, DURING & AFTER

Before a call, I recommend:

  • Release anything that isn’t needed for the call
  • Set your intentions for the call
  • Come in as yourself, having nothing to prove
  • Chose to witness & be witnessed

Additional energetic field-level supports that can make a big difference may include, but not limited to:

  • Ground & center yourself
  • Cloak of non probing
  • Compost bin
  • Golden mist layer between you & the screen/mic/camera
  • Ear cleansing & allowing only truth to be heard
  • Nullify any projections or assumptions
  • Invite a field guardian
  • Create an intentional spray to use pre call

During a call, I recommend:

  • Noticing how your body feels and responds to the person you’re talking to
  • Pay attention if you feel different post meet than you did premeet
  • Notice how time feels – did if FLY, or feel like 3 hours
  • If any meets feel challenging, use your breath or a hand signal (touch your thigh) to reset in between calls

After a call, I recommend:

  • Calling all your energy back to you (cleansed, purified unattached)
  • Returning any energy you may have taken on (cleansed, purified unattached)
  • Closing down any energetic structures you set up
  • Thanking any guardians called in to return to their rightful space
  • If applicable, run an energetic cleansing mist head to toe to refresh you back to center
  • Debriefing who you exchanged with that call, and who to stay in contact with
  • Checking in to see if you stayed in integrity for yourself & your business

These all may not be needed for your energetic field, and they may also morph over time.  As your awareness grows, and the post call debrief skills extend to the energetics, you may find trends that happen over multiple calls that are worth addressing.

Honestly, even just calling your energy back and returning what isn’t yours after a call can make a surprisingly big difference in how you feel.

TIPS IF A CALL FEELS ENTANGLED

What if a call ends and you find yourself sluggish, disoriented, or emotionally heavy?

It’s possible there was a deeper energetic entanglement at play. How would you know? Ask your body. (blog post about this topic)

If you get a yes, that’s your cue to pause and get curious.

First, let’s bring you back into your sovereignty. Here are some starting points:

  • Run a slow, intentional scan across all your layers: mental, emotional, physical, and etheric

  • Try a cleansing mist—imagine it in different colors and textures, and see what supports you best

  • Reclaim your sovereignty.  Try something like: “I am sovereign. Nothing of another’s essence may exist within my field.”

  • Close or weave shut any energetic openings you sense

  • Ground deeply into the Earth and anchor into your Source point (or your chosen Source of truth)

Once you feel like yourself again, centered and connected only to you, ask what may have created the opening.

Some starter reflection questions:

  • Do I have an open wound that got activated by this person or call?

  • Is there an unresolved archetype or energy pattern we share?

  • Were my boundaries too porous in that area?

  • Did I step into an old pattern like people-pleasing, fixing, or performance?

In my experience, deeper entanglements don’t happen unless some part of my field allows it.  Whether that’s from conscious choice, societal patterning, or an ancient wound. This isn’t about blaming the other person. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, and using every encounter as a path back to sovereignty.

SOME REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES

I won’t drag this out.  If you’ve made it this far, you already know I can meander when I’m excited about a topic. So I’ll keep it simple and share a few moments that brought me home to myself:

Speed networking surprises
Almost every speed networking call came with at least one very challenging interaction. Not even close to aligned with my work or a potential referral partner. Some left me rattled enough that it took effort to recombobulate for the rest of the meetings.

What I uncovered:
I was unconsciously running an old pattern of softening hard interactions for whoever they’d meet after me. I’d take the hit to clear the path.
This wasn’t unique to networking, but the rapid-fire format brought it into sharp view.
Reclaiming my role as witness, not sponge was a turning point.

The “spellbound” sensation
After some calls, I felt like something subtle had been placed over me like a haze or a spell. I don’t believe it was intentional or malicious, but it was noticeable and real in my system.

What I shifted:
I added a nullifying clause to my pre-call setup including projection, priming, or spellcasting attempts.

The involuntary processing
Sometimes I’d burp, get heat waves, or feel pressure in my body mid-call. All signs I was unintentionally processing the energy of the space.

What I changed:
I added a clause to my pre call set up that I don’t process or absorb the energy of the room.  That this was a space to observe, not work.

These examples aren’t about blame, nor are they meant to make networking sound scary or heavy.
They’re offered as windows or ways you might begin to notice and name your own subtle cues.

It’s not about avoiding intensity.
It’s about becoming clear on what is yours to hold, and what isn’t.
And from that place… choosing again.

IN CLOSING

I didn’t realize right away just how much I’ve learned from networking calls, or how deeply they’ve sharpened my skills in energetic hygiene and discernment. Over time, I came to see just how much unspoken, subtle energetic exchange can be at play beneath a conversation.

It’s also made one thing very clear: this work matters. Deeply.

As I said earlier, I believe we all benefit from taking radical responsibility for how we show up, and not just in business, but in our daily interactions. I’ve met people from many walks of life and all kinds of business models, but one common thread I’ve observed is this: very few people are truly aware of the ripple effect their presence and energy can have on others.

Years ago, I heard a line in Pranic Healing that stayed with me: “Every household should have a healer.” At first, it struck me as bold, maybe even egoic. But now I see it differently. If every household had even one person practicing sovereignty, honouring their energy and the energies around them, we’d live in a very different world. One with more grace, compassion, and clarity. Can you imagine?

I don’t believe that noticing or naming energetic dynamics makes someone “too sensitive” or “too much.” I believe it makes them wise. The more we become aware of what we’re allowing, where our wounds sit, and how we engage in energy exchanges, the stronger and steadier we become.

If anything in this post stirred your curiosity or if you want to better understand what I’ve shared or explore how this might apply in your own life I’d be honoured to walk with you for a while

Let’s explore what’s possible. Together.
